Louis Rainone, while being influenced by many great jazz pianists such as Bud Powell, Bill Evans, and Hank Jones, has developed a unique, distinctive, swinging sound of his own. In demand as a sideman, he is currently appearing with many jazz artists in the New York and surrounding areas. Previously, Louis has performed with artists such as Jimmy Heath,Gary Smulyan, Joe Cohn, Grant Stewart, John Swana, Eric Alexander, Vincent Herring, Ira Sullivan, Dick Oatts, Ralph Lalama, Jim Snidero, Philippe Botta, and Rick Margitza.

As a performer, his appearances include numerous venues in North America, Europe, and Asia. He has led groups of various sizes at the Kool Jazz Festival, the Eubie Blake Jazz Festival, and jazz festivals in Taiwan.

Besides his performances as soloist and collaborating artist, Louis has released two CD's: "One For Ruppert" in 1996 and "Second Nature" in 1998. In 2003, Louis released "United" as part of Trio International. A new trio CD is expected in early 2005.

Louis is also a composer and a teacher. In 2003 and 2004, he conducted jazz clinics and master classes in Taichung and Taipei. Besides numerous jazz compositions, his PianoTeams pieces for 5 pianos are published by Piano Ensemble International. He maintains a teaching studio in New York, and in Baltimore where he recieves students of piano and music theory.
